ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It causes the nerve cells that control muscle movement to gradually degenerate and die, ultimately leading to muscle weakness and wasting. ALS patients typically experience progressively worsening muscle weakness that affects basic activities such as speaking, swallowing and breathing.
Omar Dix, an ALS patient, has difficulty walking on his own due to the muscle degeneration caused by ALS. "My muscles have deteriorated and my balance is poor. I find it difficult to walk without help," says Omar Dix. In addition to actively cooperating with his doctors and performing daily care activities, he followed his doctor's advice and purchased a walker to make his daily life easier. "When I use the walker, it relieves the pain and fatigue. It allows me to walk farther and more safely." The walker has indeed made his outings more enjoyable.
After his old rollator broke, he bought a more comfortable and affordable VOCIC Z21 rollator, which was quickly delivered a few months ago.
It took about 20 minutes to assemble and Omar Dix tried to lift it himself. "I'm 6'1" tall and weigh 185 pounds. My strength is fading quickly, but I can still lift it even though I have ALS." He then eagerly tested his "new friend" on different surfaces.
"It supports me very well. I can walk on any surface without worrying. I love the seat, which allows me to rest when I need to." One of the features that Omar Dix appreciates most is the solid rubber tires on the Z21 rollator. Made from a mix of PP (polypropylene) and PVC (polyvinyl chloride), the tires are lightweight and durable, allowing the rollator to cope with different types of terrain. Importantly, the seat on the Z21 rollator is comfortable, allowing Omar Dix to rest when he needs to and relieving muscle pain.
"I used a standard rollator before and will never use one again!" Omar Dix prefers the Z21 to his old rollator. "Amazing! 100% great deal! I'm so glad I ordered mine!" he added.
Now Omar Dix can no longer imagine his everyday life without the Z21 rollator . "I use the Z21 several times a week. I go for walks, go shopping or visit friends in the neighborhood." The Z21 makes it convenient for Omar Dix to visit friends. "I live in a rural area and always have to walk a bit to get to a friend's house or to the park. Without the Z21 rollator, that wouldn't be possible."
Omar Dix also suggested improvements to the Z21 and hoped for improvements for nighttime use. "The only adjustments or modifications I would recommend are safety accessories, such as practical accessories like lights, etc." VOCIC is preparing for these improvements and new products will be launched soon.
We know that developing optimized treatment and care methods and improving access to care can help ALS patients live the life they want and achieve a higher quality of life. In addition, in daily life, you can also use a safe mobility aid to facilitate daily activities, just like Omar Dix.
