My name is Wayne Shook. I am 81 years old and have been an amputee since December 4, 2019, having had my right leg amputated. I have had both a manual wheelchair and an older electric wheelchair that was given to me by a friend's neighbor. However, since I had no means of transporting the wheelchair, I could only use it in my neighborhood.
About a year ago we moved in with our daughter and her husband. To get used to the new area, we got ramps to load my old wheelchair into our van. Unfortunately, the old wheelchair didn't fit into the van because it had six wheels. When we went up the ramps, the drive wheels were lifted off the ground.
So we decided to buy a new, lightweight, foldable power wheelchair. Since we live on social security, price was a major concern. Because of my height and weight, and my 76-year-old wife who is over 57, the wheelchair needed to be light enough for her to handle, while being sturdy enough to accommodate my height and weight.
We ordered a wheelchair from one of the many vendors listed online and on eBay. The vendor had a wheelchair that met our criteria, but they sent the wrong wheelchair. After a long search, we decided we needed a sturdier harness chair from a reputable vendor.
After reviewing countless online advertisements, we finally decided on VOCIC and the V53 because its specifications met our needs and the cost just fit into our budget for a new wheelchair.
The V53 wheelchair was exactly the style we wanted, and most of the available models were way over our budget. Its weight is right at the limit of what my wife can lift, and its construction is sturdy enough for me.
Why we chose the V53 wheelchair
Why did we choose the V53 wheelchair? VOCIC support was quick to answer our questions about the weight and other aspects of the wheelchair. That, along with the price, were the deciding factors.
Since we have already donated our old 180 pound wheelchair to the local welfare office, I am left with only my manual wheelchair until the new one arrives. We can't wait to get our new wheelchair so we can get out of the house again.
First impression of the VOCIC V53
Later, I received my V53 after only 5 days. I couldn't wait to try it out. The assembly was easy and we had it set up quickly.
I started using it at home, in the garden and at the mall. It is easy to use, smart and maneuverable. The seat cushion is comfortable and the width of the footrest is just right. Recently I took it to the mall and went out to dinner with family and friends; soon I plan to take it on a trip.
The V53 Wheelchair: A Perfect Choice
Now I use it almost every day. I have to say, the V53 meets almost all my requirements for a power wheelchair - it is light, stylish, smart and safe. I am really glad we chose the VOCIC V53; it is definitely worth the money.
